Mission Mobile has partnered with Telkom as a solution partner for alternative device financing across Postpaid, Prepaid and FWA, expanding access to affordable devices and supporting lasting subscriber relationships.
With Mission Mobile being integrated across 400 Telkom points of presence, the partnership brings together Telkom’s retail reach and connectivity offering with Mission Mobile’s alternative device-finance solutions.
The ambition goes beyond the initial sale: by making devices more accessible, the partnership gives more customers the opportunity to connect to Telkom and continue purchasing connectivity as their needs develop.
More choice in device financing
Mission Mobile provides alternative device financing to support different customer needs and budgets across Telkom’s Postpaid, Prepaid and FWA offerings. This includes DataBack Device, which combines device finance with prepaid data, helping customers access a smartphone and stay connected as they repay it.
By enabling access to devices, the partnership supports ongoing use of Telkom’s connectivity services and creates opportunities for future device upgrades.
Making a device affordable can be the starting point for a lasting subscriber relationship.”
“Making a device affordable can be the starting point for a lasting subscriber relationship,” says Tim Strike, CEO of Mission Mobile. “Our role is to provide alternative device financing that helps more customers access the devices they need and stay connected through Telkom. That creates value for the customer and an opportunity for recurring revenue for the network.”
Capturing more of the demand already in store
The partnership also provides an alternative for eligible customers declined for a traditional contract. Subject to Mission Mobile’s own assessment, these customers can be considered for device finance that gives them a second chance to purchase and remain connected to Telkom.
Mission Mobile carries the credit risk on the device finance it provides. This allows Telkom to capture sales and future connectivity spend that might otherwise be lost, without taking on additional device-finance credit risk.
A partnership built for the long term
“Our retail network gives us the opportunity to help more customers access devices and connectivity,” says Mark Jordaan, Executive: Sales and Distribution at Telkom. “Working with Mission Mobile as an alternative device-financing solution partner gives us another way to meet customer needs across Postpaid, Prepaid and FWA, while supporting device sales and ongoing connectivity spend.”
Mission Mobile and Telkom will continue developing the alternative device-financing offering and the customer experience, with a shared ambition to make devices accessible to more customers and support lasting relationships with the network.
